Sup guys I know I can’t get on here and compare with the picture of the Yeti yall found lol. I wonder if he can fish? haha anyways I know everybody’s been hammerin the fish lately it has just been on fire out there! The redfishing has still been off the chain, the bait is here, and the snook are even biting pretty good. I know a lot of you guys are anxious to get on a tarpon too. They defianately aren’t here thick yet, but they’re startin to show up here and there. My reason for getting on here was to post a picture of my friend Jason and his first tarpon. Weeks prior to his birthday(april 23rd) he begged me to take him out for a birthday tarpon. He said he speant over a thousand dollars at franks last year trying to just catch one he just wasn’t successful doin so. I told him I was pretty confident we could make it happen. So we set out Wednesday night with a livewell full of big threadfins and a half dozen 12 to 14 inch ladyfish. The moon was up and full and the fish really were active. I made my first cast with a live ladyfish and it wasn’t in there for two seconds I swear before I had a six footer jumpin like crazy! I immediately passed the rod off to Jason and ran to the trolling motor. He was all smiles as the fish jumped and bucked like crazy. Fifteen minutes or so later he got the fish to the boat. My guess he was a hundred and fifty pounds or so. Man that made me feel good I know that was the best birthday present I could of given him. We weren’t fishin for a half an hour and we already fealt complete like we had done what we came for. We took pictures as we revived his fish and let him go. Than we went back to it and jumped a couple more. At sunrise we caught quite a few snook and redfish too. Ahhh Yes sir! Thanks again to the fish Gods for makin this all possible! And thank you Frank(s), Robert, Greg, Angel, Jeff, and Darrel for all of your insight, and for putting up with my crap for all these years. I really appreciate you guys Port Charlotte wouldn’t be the same without ya’ll. Sincerely, Billy B a.k.a.saltycracker

On March 17th
Jim T. (from Northern Michigan and hoisting the fish) and Barry C.(Port Cahrlotte…. not in picture… to shy) had a great day of catching Spannish Mackrel, Sea Trout and Sheep Head, 3 miles out of Ft Myers Beach on a charter boat. We felt this huge Black Drum was a worthy post. We had a great day but this was the icing on the cake. The gal to the left pulled this one in!

Hey Frank,
I really enjoy your forum and website. I hope I”m not making myself a pain.
I hope my posts and blogs are acceptable. I feel that the more activity on a site, the more people will visit… the more they visit, the more likely they are to send business your way.
I kinda go by the adage, visit often, visit URLy!
Even though I have yet to spend one red cent at your store… you best beleive I’ll be there in May.
Like you said it’s not cheap (anymore) to go to Port Charlotte/Punta Gorda.
Me and Bubba (my best dog buddy) will see ya May 22 after llunch time to pick up initial supplies

For years now
Saturday, April 17th, 2010my name Is Steve ,I used to come Into the shop all the
time, little Tyler was my next door neighbor on Webber years ago
,anyway I’ve moved out to placida now,we have a house on shell creek
and I gotta tell ya the fishing Is pretty good here. snook , reds,
snapper, trout, and soon tarpon. but for now, the snook and red bite
Is ON !! we live about a mile or less from the new bridge their
building, 776/ 771. I cant wait, till they finish and put the lights
up. my guess Is that’s going to be the new, “snook haven”, this summer.
right off the Icw and tons of bait fIsh, and a lIghted bridge. oh
yea!!!. I’ve got the bright yellow actIoncraft with black flames, but,
Its so shallow back here I’ve been reluctant to put her In the water.
so , I bought a 14″ smoker craft with a 15 house, merc, and put that on
my boat lIft , now, I can hIt all the shallow spots, and not worry
about tearing up the bottom of my boat with all the oyster beds that
are so thIck In here.” great for reds hard on boats”. I live In an area
they call the,” sugar bowl” and It produces pretty well, even at slack
tides. I’ve been using the new badonk-a-donk,by capt. Chris O’Neill
(Englewood) and Bomber , I bought one and now I have about ten, the
snook , reds, just, destroyed the first one I bought. anyway, I fish
pretty much everyday, so,
I can send pics as I go along.oh, by the way , years ago Tyler traded
me , one of your old rods for something, I don’t remember , a 6′8″
shImano stimula, I’ve replaced some of the eyes a few times over the
years, as matter of fact It needs an eye replaced now , but It still
catches, Its one of my favorite rods. pretty weird, huh? also ,I wanted
to tell you, I, love the site, great job!!!! take care
, and Ill talk to ya soon ,
Steve,
Fishin with Capt Dan L.
Saturday, April 17th, 2010My friends, John & Deb, came down from up north for a few days. On Sat we had an afternoon charter with Capt Dan Latham (Reelfishing.com). Since a front was moving through I knew it might be a rough day, both wind wise and fish wise. We all flyfish.
We met Dan at Brunt Store Marina and headed out. On our first stop we got into great numbers of lady fish. Since my friends are from the north they had never had the fun of taking these fine fighters on the fly. After hammering the ladys for a good time we went to look for some more bait for chumming. The front even made the bait scarce .
Captain Dan headed for another location and on the first throw of the net he managed to get about 100 or so.
Our next stop was even better then the first. More lady fish, mackerel, and nice trout kept gave the rods a good work out.
With the wind blowing Capt Dan did one hell of a job keeping his new Skeeter positioned so all three of us could be whipping our wands at the same time.
Anybody thinking of looking for a charter captain that really works for his clients can’t go wrong contacting Captain Dan !

Thanks Frank for giving me the info on Capt. Dan.

Cobia
Saturday, April 17th, 2010
Hi Frank,
We bought some new Okuma reels and spinning rods from you recently. We then went out and caught this 56 inch cobia on the 20 lb test you spooled for us. The equipment worked great!!! It took 30 to 40 minutes to land him (completely tire him out) so we could fit him in our 19 ft. boat. We had to sit on him for 20 minutes until we could re-arrange the fish box and stuff him in. We were so satisfied with the equipment my wife went down and bought 2 more outfits for our upcoming keys trip. We just discovered you guys as I live in North Port and work in Sarasota where I’ve bought most of my gear out of convenience. Your staff are knowledgeable and very courteous and your prices are fantastic considering the service that comes with it. You’ve earned 2 faithful customers.

its Wednesday afternoon after school, Tyler and I are going out to catch lady fish for this Jr flats masters tournament coming up this Saturday. weren’t catching crap until i saw alil disturbance in the water. at first i thought it was a school of lady fish. so i cast my sebile’ stick shad over there and it felt like i hooked onto the bottom or grass. but than it started running and did a head shake like a tarpon would, so at that time i thought that’s what it was. but shortly after we saw his yellow tail. so a total of 6 min fight finally brought her over and layed it on the deck and measured it and it measured a nice 40 inches and 18..5 pounds. that’s a big frickin fish
