Places to go Fishin                                                             
 There are so many places and different types of fishing
 in Charlotte  County and the surrounding area.

South-west Florida is truly an anglers dream come true,
here are some places you may not know,

Boat only Salt water.

14 foot hole   Located at the mouth of the Myakka River.

Barge canal   More of a Kayak spot but if you have a skinny running boat.
                            This is just south of Ponce de Leon park.

Cattle Dock   On the Myakka River good place for Reds

East Keys   How to get on the flats on the east side of the Harbor.

Gallagher"s cut   Located at the south end Turtle Bay.
                            This is a shallow water access, with deep water with-in the cut.

Hobbs   East side of Charlotte Harbor.

deep Holes   You could call these the tarpon holes of Charlotte Harbor.
                            There are three of them sort of in a row. Good spots for Shark or Tarpon.

Rocky Creek   Upper north end of Charlotte Harbor.

Tippy Canoe   Off the Myakka River,
                            Great winter time Sea Trout fishing.

Two Pines   South of Burnt store Marina, across from the North end of Pine Island, very shallow

Sans Souic  Shell creek, across from Harbour Heights, off the Peace river.

Burnt Store  Southern end of Charlotte Harbor, East side,
                           Fishing any where but the channel is extremely shallow access.



Shore or pier only. Salt water

17 th street  Salt water shore fishin. on Gasparilla Island "Boca Grande" This is fishing
                           from the beach.

aligator tressel   Shore fishing right along side 41 just south of Punta Gorda / 
                            can be reached by boat long ride from any ramp.

Local Piers   this is an over view of the local piers,

bay shore Pier   Shore fishin / Best in spring and summer for Shark & cobia , winter time good sea trout,

Collingswood    A place on the bank to fish.

East spring lake    shore fishing from sea wall, No railings "not a pier"
                            Just a nice place to fish, there is sort of a path from
                            down to the sea wall. Oh yeah watch out for traffic
                              when getting out of your car, there is a road there.

El Jo Bean   El Jo Bean fishing pier. Located on the Myakka River. 

Placida Piers    Placida Trestle, South Pier,  Shore fishing ,  Boca Grande/ Gasparilla Island.
                             The pier may be reached by boat, it is a short ride from Placida ramp.

Stump Pass   Englewood Beach and intercostals Fishing

Tom Adams pier   Shore fishing ,/Pier this is in Englewood.


 

Salt / Brackish, Boat ramps with Shore fishing access,


Edgewater Ramp     Deep water at ramp, but extremely
                            shallow access to the Harbor.

Darst Ramp   Good ramp Very shallow access to the I-75 area of the peace river
                             boat ramp, Shore fishing here for Reds and Snook

Harbour Hieghts   This is a great windy day ramp.
                           Just north of I-75 on the Peace River.  

Indian Mound  Englewood ramp on the intercostals Very cool Park

Placida   good ramp, quick to the gulf, any size boat.
                           not really any place to fish here. just a ramp.

Ponce De Leon   Boat ramp / fishing docks/ picnic area.

River side ramp   Boat ramp, on Shell Creek Salt /Brackish water, Shore fishing in the park from land.

North Port ramp  This is a Salt/ brackish water Ramp in North Port

Kayak Friendly Ramps and paddle to spots

aligator tressel   Slide in launch . A little bit of a carry, but you can slide in a Kayak here.

Barge canal   Paddle to spot. Leave from Ponce 
                           boat only

Darst Ramp   Launch ramp easy access to fishing the I-75 bridge

Sunrise Park  Launch east spring lake canals.

Harbour Hieghts  Nice Ramp river access and lots of canals to fish
                           Shore fishin from 2 nice piers                 

North Port ramp  Launch ramp Fishin the Myakka River North Port
                           Shore fishing

Oyster Creek  Englewood Park launch
                           Shore fishin

Ponce De Leon  Launch Ramp what can I say it is all good
                           Shore and wading fishin

River side ramp  Launch ramp A small ramp on shell creek
                           Shore fishin

Sans Souic  Paddle to spot Launch from River side or Harbor heights Park
                            Boat only

South Pier  On Gasparilla island, At the Placida pier.

Stump Pass  I am not sure if they allow Kayaks, but I don't see why not?

Fresh water, Boat ramps. with shore fishing.

760 fishing spot   Fresh water,  Shore fishing or/  you can launch small shallow draft boat. /
                            This is located in-between Port Charlotte and Arcadia. Good Snook fishing.

Audubon Park   A park in town with parking and a trail.

9 mile ramp   This is a freshwater boat ramp in North Port on the Coco Plum or 9 mile canal

Cecil Webb   Freshwater fishing from land or boat at the state wild life man agent area.

Hathaway park  .Fresh water Boat ramp and shore fishing, Shell creek & prairie creek,

Prairie Creek   Fresh water fishing, and slid in sort of ramp. Off hwy 17 north/east of Punta Gorda.

 

Fresh water shore fishing.

Audubon Park    Park on a canal in Port charlotte

Lake Betty     Park in Port Charlotte

Titty Lake   A local fishin, and out  doors spot for years.

Turtle Preserve    Just north of River road & I 75
                             on the north end of the Myakka


Fresh water Kayak fishing.
