bull and turtle

Bull bay - and Turtle bay

Robert &  Capt. Josh  02/24/2024 — A lot of sheepshead in the back of Turtle Bay (past the shacks). Bull Bay has sheepshead under the shacks. Assorted redfish, mostly undersized, are scattered around the mangroves and oysters. Most are little, but there are some in the slot and at least a couple over the slot. Drift with shrimp or artificials for trout.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  02/17/2024 — Lots and lots of little trout. Lots of sheepshead around the oyster bars and shacks in Bull Bay. Lots of little redfish and small snook around the mangrove edges.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  02/10/2024 — A lot of trout, mostly small. Small redfish and snook under the bushes on shrimp in the afternoon. Some squirrelfish and lizardfish in here too.

------------------------------------

Robert &  Capt. Josh  01/27/2024 — Lots of trout in Turtle; had 60 reported in about 5 hours on soft plastics. A few bonnethead sharks have been cruising around, and there have been a couple redfish and snook reported too.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  01/13/2024 — Lots of small snook and some rat redfish. Better trout inside and in front of Bull Bay. A few sheepshead reported as well.

------------------------------------

Robert &  Capt. Josh  12/30/2023 — Redfish reports were good around the mangroves before the full moon, but the mullet have left and so did many of the reds. Some smaller snook around the trees too. Sheepshead under the Bull Bay shacks. Bonnetheads and trout scattered all around the area, including in the Harbor out front of Bull Bay.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  12/16/2023 — A bunch of trout, a few redfish and snook.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  12/09/2023 — A lot of redfish, again schooling but also hanging out with the mullet schools. Shrimp, pinfish and cutbait are catching them. good numbers of little snook here too. There are also a lot of trout biting, with quite a few in the lower end of the slot. Lizardfish and puffers are all over.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  12/02/2023 — A few trout, lots of snook, quite a few redfish (mostly smaller), good numbers of bull sharks 3 to 5 feet, and a few sheepshead under the shacks and around the bushes.

------------------------------------

Robert &  Capt. Josh  11/25/2023 — Lots of smaller snook and redfish, plus a few reds to keep. Bigger snook have been spotted but not caught. Lots of trout, mostly shorts. There are bull and lemon sharks in the 3- to 5-foot range, plus a handful of bonnetheads.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  11/18/2023 — One of the best spots in the area. Redfish of assorted sizes from dinks up to about 25 inches are under the bushes and around the oyster bars. Bigger fish have been taking cut sardines, ladyfish or mullet. A lot of snook are around, mostly smaller ones. A lot of trout scattered around the flats. Mixed sharks (bulls, lemons, blacktips, etc) are more abundant than expected.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  11/11/2023 — A lot of trout of assorted sizes scattered around the area. Quite a few snook and redfish are under the bushes, and there may be a few around the oyster bars too. Lots of lizardfish around too.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  11/05/2023 — Redfish and snook under the bushes and around the oyster bars. A few trout and a couple small sharks reported also.

------------------------------------

Robert &  Capt. Josh  10/28/2023 — One of the better spots overall. Redfish and snook under the bushes and in the creek mouths, taking shrimp, cut ladyfish, live pinfish or whitebait, and of course soft plastic lures. There are trout and ladyfish around the grass. A handful of larger sharks (lemons, maybe) around the area.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  10/14/2023 — Snook and redfish under the bushes, mostly on cutbait but also shrimp or pinfish. Trout are scattered all around the bays. Sharks up to about 6 feet have been seen in random areas. Big schools of mullet have been in the area as well.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  10/07/2023 — Scattered redfish and snook on the oysters and under the bushes. Live pinfish, cut ladyfish, live shrimp, soft plastics and spoons are all catching fish.

Capt. Josh & Fishin' Frank 10/03/23  — Trout are good in Turtle. Drift with a tandem soft plastic jig, bouncing it along. At the mouth, we're seeing some jacks and trout.

------------------------------------

Robert &  Capt. Josh  09/16/2023 — A lot of redfish and snook scattered under the bushes. Reds are slot to over, snook are mostly shorts. Cutbait, shrimp and soft plastics are all doing well.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  09/09/2023 — Lots of redfish, mostly singles in the bushes but also a couple schools. Lots of trout, with a few keepers. Snook bite is fairly good, mostly shorts. A miscellaneous variety of sharks around too.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  09/02/2023 — Redfish are abundant, with lots of them over the slot. They're in groups of about a half-dozen to 20. Some very good snook in here eating cut ladyfish.

------------------------------------

Robert &  Capt. Josh  07/22/2023 — Some snook and redfish this week, mostly out in 3 to 4 feet of water around better current flow. Very few trout, and not big ones. Lots of small sharks in here, plus a few lemon sharks in the 4- to 5-foot range.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  07/15/2023 — The trout have thinned out a bit, but there are decent numbers of snook and a few upper slot redfish. Small to midsize tarpon have been spotted cruising the flats. Some smaller sharks and a scattering of bigger ones are also cruising around.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  07/01/2023 — Snook are here and more are seen than caught as they have spawning on the brain. A few trout. Lots of bonnetheads. The deeper spots in Turtle Bay have small to medium tarpon.

------------------------------------

Robert &  Capt. Josh  06/24/2023 — A lot of snook, again not as cooperative as we'd like. Lots of trout from 12 to 24 inches, and they're eating pretty well on live shrimp or pinfish under a float. Some smaller sharks. Small mangrove snapper are stealing baits.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  06/10/2023 — Lots of snook action, but also some groups focused on spawning and not eating. Bull sharks up to 6 feet, plus some bonnetheads. Trout over the grass. Mangrove snapper under the trees. Some sheepshead reported under the shacks. No redfish.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  06/03/2023 — Lots of snook in the bays, along with quite a few trout. There are small bull sharks up to about 6 feet and lots of bonnetheads. Redfish reports have dried right up.

------------------------------------

Robert &  Capt. Josh  05/20/2023 — Some small and medium bull sharks, a lot of snook in groups (several males to one female), decent but not great redfish and trout. The trout seem to be more on the outside, since the water has got warm.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  05/13/2023 — The best spot for snook and redfish, mainly under the bushes eating shrimp and cut pinfish or ladyfish. Trout are here but not super thick. Bull sharks and bonnetheads of mixed sizes.

------------------------------------

Robert &  Capt. Josh  03/25/2023 — Still the best thing going. Trout, sheepshead, snook, redfish, bonnetheads and a few 4- to 6-foot bull sharks have all been reported. However, some folks are seeing more than they're catching due to high water clarity. Stay as far back as you can and try to cast with the wind.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  03/18/2023 — Again, the top spot. Snook, redfish, trout, bonnetheads, baby bull sharks, pompano around the Turtle Bay bar. Fish the flats, the oyster bars or the mangroves. Shrimp and cutbait are catching fish. If you can't catch fish in this area right now, you might want to re-evaluate your tackle and techniques.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  03/11/2023 — Top spot for this week. Trout are around the oyster bars and on the flats. Redfish from 15 to 24 inches are in the same spots plus under the mangroves. Snook (some keepers) are mostly around the trees. Shrimp are the best choice for everything, either under a popping cork or on a jighead. A few dead fish have been reported, but they're old ones and there's been no red tide here this week.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  03/04/2023 — Action here is decent. Lots of trout, redfish and snook, plus some juvenile tarpon in the backcountry. Shrimp are doing well, or you can try topwaters early and soft plastics later in the day. Larger sharks have been seen but not caught. Some dead fish floating in the bays, but we have not had any reports of red tide actually in these waters.

------------------------------------

Robert &  Capt. Josh  02/18/2023 — Still the best thing going. Snook, redfish, trout, sheepshead, mangrove snapper, bonnetheads, ladyfish, and a few jacks. Fish are on the bushes, fish are on the oyster bars, fish are over sand. Still, be prepared to move around to find the best spots.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  02/11/2023 — Once again the best spot. Bonnetheads and trout are on the open flats. Lots of snook and redfish around the mangrove, plus some sheepshead. Shrimp are king, but topwater work in the mornings for the snook and reds.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  02/04/2023 — Still the best spot to be. Snook, redfish, trout, bonnetheads, sheepshead and mangrove snapper have all been caught. The water is getting clear enough to sight-fish, but it's also clear enough for them to see you. Shrimp and soft plastic paddletails are best.

------------------------------------

Robert &  Capt. Josh  01/28/2023 — Probably the best fishing in the area. Snook, redfish, trout, ladyfish, bonnetheads, sheepshead and mangrove snapper are all biting. It's not exactly on fire, but the fish are there and more or less cooperative. Shrimp and soft plastic paddletails are best. Topwaters have caught a few fish too.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  01/21/2023 — Very consistent fishing here. Sheepshead under the bushes, under the shacks and around the mangroves. Snook, redfish and trout are on the flats and around the oysters. The bite has been better later in the day.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  01/07/2023 — Lots of trout all around the area. Snook and redfish are up underneath the mangroves. A few sheepshead around the oysters bars, but more a happy bycatch than something to target.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Robert &  Capt. Josh  08/29/2022 — Schooling redfish (just about all over-slot). A few keeper reds under the bushes, with snook as your bycatch. Sharks in the 4- to 6-foot range are cruising the flats.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  08/13/2022 — A lot of redfish, including a school that's been patrolling the bar. Under the bushes, we're also seeing a fair number of snook. Cutbait is good. Trout are inconsistent here due to shallow water.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Robert &  Capt. Josh  07/30/2022 — Lots of redfish and snook, mostly eating cutbait under the bushes. Shrimp, mullet, ladyfish and crabs all work. Some larger sharks cruising the flats. No trout inside the bays, but in 4 to 7 feet of water out front expect to find some, along with some Spanish mackerel.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  07/23/2022 — Lots of snook and redfish in here, plus a handful of trout. Most of the fish are under the bushes. Look for pinch points with stronger flow and fish shrimp or cutbait.

Robert &  Capt. Josh  07/02/2022 — Snook and reds are the main catches. Juvie tarpon are popping up. Trout have moved out of the bays and are in deeper water outside.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

Fishin Frank, & Robert, The Blind Tarpon - 05/23/20 ------   seeing a lot of snook with the clear water see them back off the long distance cast

WIth the pompano more just out side the bays

Fishin Frank, & Robert, The Blind Tarpon - 04/11/20 ------ amazing amounts of reds and Snook, take 7.6 foot or 8 foot rods you need to be back away from the fish
So casting distance is important with all of the people fihsing

Fishin Frank, & Robert, The Blind Tarpon - 04/04/20 ------ The better fishing area right now Reds, Snook and Trout and the open water has Trout , lady fish , Sharks

Fishin Frank, & The Blind Tarpon "Robert" Along with Capt. Karl - 01/26/19 ------ sheephead all over the pyster bars and Trout in the open flats in the holes. Karl says a lot of over size reds in bull bay secret is to find the mullet and the reds will be there, shrimp and or cut mullet. On hte out side of Bull bay a lot of permit this is cool, use small crabs.

Fishin Frank, & The Blind Tarpon "Robert"- 01/19/19 ------- Good for red fish and snook a lot of the fish are 10 to 15 feet from the mnagroves
The house boats in the back of Bull have nice sheep head.

Fishin Frank, & The Blind Tarpon "Robert" Along with Capt. Karl - 01/12/19 ------- a lot of sheep head under hte mangroves and under the shacks
Red fish are really in the way back and the Snook are back watch for the mullet that seems to be the key follow the mullet
The Trout are up in 2 or less feet of water/ fast bounce a DOA cal shad paddle tail for the biggest Trout

Fishin Frank, & The Blind Tarpon "Robert"- 01/05/19 -------  sheep head under the shacks,

around the islands, There is larger Trout in Bull but a few less, paddle tails are the key in dark colors

The Trout fihsing is better in bull bay, bait under floats, in Turtle bay quie a few trout but larger in Bull
The oyster beds just inside Bull bay have a bunch of sheep head. and there is a good possible by catch

Fishin Frank & Robert   01/10/17-------- Turtle bay has some great sheep head
fish the deep points for the sheep head. 25 to 35 inch red fish, shrimp on a jig head or
cut fish fish are the key for these reds. Bull bay has some nice reds look for the mangroves
which have some deeper water.

Fishin Frank & Robert   01/19/17--------  Open areas in Bull and Turtle bay Poppin corks for Trout
and you will catch a lot, a little better in turtle bay

along with some good mangrove snapper,
Trout and red fish near the mouth of Turtle bay on the sand bar.

Fishin Frank & Robert   01/26/16----- Trout n the open flats, the deeper the water the larger the
Trout so head back towards the shack in Turtle bay< In Bull bay toward the west sort of in the middle
the water is deeper there and the larger trout are close to the bottom.
Let your lure sink a bit. Poppin corks for more numbers of Trout jigs or sinking lures for larger Trout

Fishin Frank & Robert's report--02/09/15------- Trout on the open flat
They are from tiny to 28 inches, and The Red fish are like that as well
